Saturday Night Program
Amber Dubois’ |
Amber Dubois’ mother, Carrie Mcgonigle, will be this year’s Guest Speaker for the 39th Annual SAR City. This speaking will take place on October 8, 2011 at 7 p.m. at the Barstow Community College Gymnasium. On February 13, 2009 as Carrie kissed her 14 year old daughter, Amber, goodbye and told her that she loved her, Carrie did not realize it would be the last time she would ever see her Amber alive again. 13 agonizing months went by and still no Amber. Hundreds of hours and hundreds of volunteers joined the search in the San Diego Area hoping to find Amber. On February 25, 2010 Chelsea King’s disappearance summoned those hundreds of volunteers back to the San Diego area, another young girl missing. As Carrie joined the search, she knew all to well another mother would be facing those all too familiar emotions. In March of 2010 Carrie would find the one eerie thing these two beautiful girls had in common, their killer. Fast forward to May 27, 2011 when the call for searchers goes out for Michelle Le, a missing nursing student. Carrie and her yellow Lab, affectionately named Amber, answered the call. Carrie describes how the finding of Le’s remains flooded her with emotions. Join the Barstow Desert Rescue Squad for their 39th annual SAR City and hear the amazing journey Carrie has taken from mother of a missing youth to searcher and her organization Team Amber Rescue. |
